Shayla’s Guest of the Month: Susan Stoker

I’m super excited to have Susan Stoker as my guest of the month. She’s so fun, always wears a smile a signings, and has a quick wit. Every time I see her, we share smiles, waves, and hugs. She’s not only infectious, but she’s an amazing author.

Please welcome Susan Stoker…

Name a movie you’ve seen at least five times and why it’s a favorite.

Ever After with Drew Barrymore. The acting isn’t the best and it’s fairly cheesy, but I just love it. It’s a take on Cinderella and I love that “Cinderella” is a kick butt take no prisoners kind of character…the kind that ultimately saves herself. It never fails to make me feel good.

What does your work space look like?

I have a very nice office…with a walking treadmill and a floor to ceiling bookshelf…but I find myself sitting on the couch most of the time…keeping the dogs company. Ha! If I didn’t, they’d pace the house, or get in trouble. But if I sit on the couch, they sit on the couch with me and sleep.

Plotter or pantser and why?

I’m a pantser through and through. I don’t know why except that’s how I started writing. I usually know how the H/h meet and what the “drama” is at 85% of the book. I write “to” the drama. I figure if it’s worked for me after 45 books, I might as well keep going with it!

What’s your next release?

Coming up on Dec 4th is the second book in my Mountain Mercenaries series, Defending Chloe. The Hero is a sexy ex-SAS solider (with a sexy British accent) who tasks himself and his team into protecting Chloe from her brother, of all people.

Last but not least, what’s YOUR Shayla Black kiss?

Teasingly up my next by Maxon Reed. YUM!

She’s married to a retired Army man (now EMT/firefighter) who now gets to follow her around the country.

She debuted her first series in 2014 and quickly followed that up with the SEAL of Protection Series, which solidified her love of writing and creating stories readers can get lost in.
