Happy Birthday to Me…

January 28th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

So it’s that day of the year I get to celebrate being a year older. Whopee… But as my dad says, “You want to be another year older or you want the pine box?” Okay, put like that, another year older sounds great.

I’ll be doing some fun girl stuff today with my mom, most likely. A movie, maybe a pedi. I might just buy myself a treadmill. We’ll see what the day brings. In the meantime, here’s a little something I can share with you. Enjoy!

Brr! Have I Mentioned That I Hate Winter?

January 25th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Winter wonderland, my ass. I wouldn’t voluntarily walk in this for anything. I LOATHE really cold weather. I’m from Los Angeles. Winter there was 55 degrees with a balmy south wind. Every year about this time, I’m reminded why, when I first moved here and everyone asked me about my winter coat and I held up my windbreaker, they all howled with laughter. C’mon! January in the south can be bitterly cold with ice storms and a north wind right out of Fargo, since there’s no mountains between there and here to stop it. And by Monday? 72. Go figure…

RAH is one of those crazy, cold-weather people. He thinks this is fun. Fun? For your whole body to shake, your skin to feel tight, and your toes to turn blue? I love my husband, but I’m thinking he needs to reexamine his idea of fun.

I can hear you all now, but it’s so pretty and you can sled and snowboard. It’s peaceful when the outside is a white blanket, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, if you had the snow, there’d be at least that picturesque thing. Here? Just freakin’ cold. And that makes me cranky. Can you tell?

Moonlight Friday

January 18th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

null
It’s a Friday–always cause for celebration. But this one is bittersweet. It’s the last original episode of Moonlight that will air this season. This episode is called The Mortal Cure. “Mick’s dream of becoming human again is within reach when he uncovers Coraline’s secret, but the answers come with a steep price. Meanwhile, still angry with Mick, Beth must deal with some heartbreaking news alone,” according to the CBS Web site.

If you’re not familiar with Moonlight, shame on you. Awesome show! Recently, it won the People’s Choice award for best new drama. Here’s a quick description, also from the CBS Moonlight Web site: Mick St. John is a captivating, charming and immortal private investigator from Los Angeles, who defies the traditional blood-sucking norms of his vampire tendencies by using his wit and powerful supernatural abilities to help the living. One night years ago, a single act of kindness changed Mick when he saved a young girl’s life, making him want to be a better vampire. Now their paths cross again and Mick develops a distinctive bond with Beth Turner, who has grown into a beautiful, ambitious Internet investigative reporter.

Sadly, one wonders if it will be the last one ever, the way the writer’s strike is dragging on and the way people are being fired and shows being cancelled. I don’t watch much new TV; I don’t have time. But Moonlight… I make time for that. It’s also spawned many additions to my iPod, very notably “Together” by the Kin. Check iTunes out for a 30-second blip. Seriously cool song.

So I’ll be watching this last episode tonight, hoping that this strike ends soon and that this show finally gets the full season it deserves!

Tagged – 7 Random Facts

January 16th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Yesterday, Louisa Edwards tagged me. I was tasked with listing 7 random facts about me, then tagging more people. So here it goes…

1. One of my favorite things in the world is getting a facial. Nothing like the way your skin feels after steam and deep cleaning.

2. I’m one of the few people who can honestly say that I met my husband while wearing the sex kitten equivalent of a clown suit. No face makeup or frizzy red wig, but a very colorful get-up and 100 balloons in hand. Everyone with their minds out of the gutter. We both worked at an amusement park.

3. I’m an only child.

4. I have never fired a gun.

5. I cannot balance my checkbook…but I got a 98 in calculus for math majors in college, though I wasn’t a math major. It was the only time slot left for taking a calculus class. At the end, the professor asked me if I’d considered being a math major. I mouthed the polite version of, “Oh, hell no” and got out.

6. I don’t drink coffee. Ever. Nasty, bitter stuff. Diet Coke, baby!

7. I will immediately turn any song that comes on the radio sung by Jackson Browne, Tom Petty or John Mellancamp. There are others, but especially those 3. Just not my thing…

Whew! That’s kind of tough to be really random. Um, now I have to tag people… Nikki, Denise, Sylvia, Jaci, Mel, Mary Beth, Sasha go!

Post Flu – Finally!

January 15th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

A very quick blog to say YIPEE! I’ve been sick since New Year’s Eve, so it’s nice to finally be beyond my cold and the flu (nasty stuff). I haven’t been as productive as I’d like early this year, and I have lots on my calendar, but I’m playing catch up now. At the end of the month, I’ll start writing next year’s books. Delicious comes first, so if you’ve been hanging in and waiting for Luc, I’ll be hard at work soon. After that, I’m hoping to be writing another Doomsday Brethren title, and then, well…Kimber’s brother, Logan, is a very bad boy so naturally I need to take him down a peg or two. I’ll see what else I can squeeze in around that.

Right now it’s revisions while I put TEMPT ME WITH DARKNESS, my first Doomsday Brethren book, to bed. Then edits on my Ellora’s Cave titled DANGEROUS BOYS AND THEIR TOY. Have I mentioned how fun it was to write that? *rubs hands together* There’s also the edits for my summer Samhain title, A PERFECT MATCH. And THE LADY AND THE DRAGON will be out in print September 30, so that will need another quick read before it goes to press.

Busy year. I don’t have time to be sick, dang it!

Stacey Daniels has always been attracted to the wrong type of men – and the muscular, Viking-like champion on her front doorstep is no exception. She can hardly believe the wounded warrior is from another world, a world where erotic dreams are needed to survive, a world of terrible danger that has followed him to her home. Connor finds solace in her passion, but only time will tell if he can defeat the dark foe who hunts them … and if Stacey can surrender to the promise he offers with every electrifying touch.

REVIEWS –
Day’s second installment in her Dream Guardian series starts off with a bang! Her hot and steamy sex scenes will leave readers breathless and aching for more. The hero and heroine are believable and well written, and the hero is rugged and definitely dreamy. With characters from the first book added in, as well as a mixture of new faces, plus dashes of paranormal elements, Day has a winning recipe.” — Janean Sparks, RT BOOKreviews

Recommended Read!My first word after reading this book was WOW! Ms. Day is truly a master at grabbing the reader’s attention from the first page and holding it throughout the story with her multifaceted storyline and scorching hot characters.” — Tammy, Fallen Angel Reviews

The rich and sensual alternate reality that the author has created is fascinating and complex. This series is full of power struggles, subterfuge, lies and conspiracies, and it will appeal to readers who enjoy action, suspense, scorching-hot sensuality and drama.” — Liddy, Two Lips Reviews

Heat Of The Night is not only a love story, it’s also an extremely adventurous tale of good versus evil. I couldn’t stop reading, waiting to see what would happen. In this story there were characters from the first book as well as new characters, both evil and good. The adventure and love story combine, woven together by a wonderful plot.” — Marcy Arbitman, The Romance Studio

To win a signed copy of the first Dream Guardian book, PLEASURES OF THE NIGHT, leave a comment and I’ll draw a winner Friday morning.

Wicked!!

January 07th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Sorry I’ve been absent…flu got me. Still not 100%, but trying to recover. To tide you over, I’ve got a hot new release from one of my most Wicked friends, Sasha White!

Wicked Cover

WICKED by Sasha White is the best erotic story I’ve ever read.” ~ Amanda, Romance Junkies.com

Readers first met Karl Dawson in BOUND, they’ll get to know him a little better in TROUBLE, but one woman will learn all in WICKED.

Bad-boy divorce attorney Karl Dawson has seen all the ways love can go wrong. That’s why he’s given up on it. Jaded and feeling restless, he has playmates, not girlfriends. A leather-clad Dominant, he comes and goes in the city’s after-dark playgrounds as he pleases. That’s how he likes it.

Lara Fox is an independent jack-of-all-trades who can do anything she sets her mind to – except that falling-in-love thing. She’s got a need for control too strong for most men, and an inability to walk away from a challenge. Including a challenge like Karl. He’s cocky, arrogant, and demanding. That’s how she needs it.

They’re perfect for each other. But what begins as a sensual battle of wills turns into a journey neither is prepared for when Lara is threatened and emotional walls start to crumble.

Order in print at Chapters.ca * Order in print at Amazon.com * Order at Barnes & Noble * Order eBOOK at Fictionwise.com

White turns up the heat with electrifying erotic scenes and a delicious alpha hero. It’s a realistic portrayal of two commitment-phobic people who turn sex games into romance. Fans will recognize some secondary characters from previous books, and new characters add just enough conflict to make things interesting. The plot moves at a good pace, and the sex is edgy, including threesomes and a M/M couple.”- Romantic Times Magazine
* * *
Sasha White provides a WICKED erotic romance starring two likable protagonists who believe love and marriage are societal farces. The metamorphous of Lara from tough independent street brawler to submissive is done with tenderness and caring, which makes her transformation seen genuine. The return of players from BOUND and TROUBLE add depth to this contemporary by showcasing the BDSM lifestyle can include commitment. Sub-genre fans will enjoy Sasha White’s latest heater.” – Harriet Klausner

If you’d like to win a copy, comment here. I’ll choose a winner on Wednesday morning!

Happy 2008!

January 01st, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

happynewyear

Welcome to 2008! I’m hoping this will be a wonderful, exciting year for all.

I started out with a mixed bag. I finished DANGEROUS BOYS AND THEIR TOY for Ellora’s Cave today and will be turning it in shortly, so I can switch over to the next Doomsday Brethren proposal and, of course, Luc (who must be complete for my editor by May 1). The not-so-great news is, I’ve been battling a cold since returning home from my parents’ house. I’m almost over it…but being in bed with a headache and the sniffles made for a really dull New Year’s Eve. On the bright side, I have 364 more days to make up for it.

Resolutions…yes, I have several. I’m really hoping life doesn’t get away from me this year, and I can resume my beloved step classes. Depends on my schedule and my feet (been having problems with them cramping lately), but one way or the other, I’m going to get some exercise back in my life. I’m one of those (apparently) odd people who likes it. No comments from the peanut gallery on me being weird… Complete 3 books this year, yes. Increased family time, yes. These seem mutually exclusive since they all require time, but I’m determined to figure it out.

What else? Renee B is the winner of the Catherine Spangler book. Please contact me to confirm your address.

That’s about all for today. My DayQuill is wearing off, and this book needs polishing, especially since it went in a completely unexpected direction. But those are characters for you. Even they have minds of their own.

I hope everyone has a great 2008. I know I have been and will be working to release some great books for you this year and into next. Stay tuned!
